As I mentioned last week, I wanted to try out the alfredo recipe that was listed on Nasoya‘s Pasta Zero Plus package of my shirataki noodles. I did make some changes to it for my tastes so it can be a bit more filling. This is also my first time making an alfredo sauce instead of using the stuff out of the jar, so be prepared to see my novice culinary skills! [Read more…]

If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter or SnapChat you may know that I took this week off from work. Since it was Spring Break from school and I really wanted to enjoy it and relax, taking some vacation time off from work was just too tempting.
I would have loved to do an island hop but instead I opted to do a little staycation and enjoy the island I live on. Between resting and lounging around I also wanted to get some physical movement in and not get too comfortable to I decided it would be fun to do some Yoga and go walking. Since I enjoy the beach and haven’t really had a chance to go there in awhile I thought it was the perfect idea to go ahead and take a walk there.
[side note: Did you know you can burn 100+ calories per mile just from walking?]
I could have drove to the beach but I really wanted to get in as many steps as I could – which reminds me that I still haven’t gotten a new battery for my FitBit Zip. So I walked on over there (and back) – it took me about 7 minutes each way and I walked along the shore through the rough waves. I also did a lot of stretching and meditating. Just enjoying the beauty of the ocean and the delicious salty air. I ended up getting in a nice little leg exercise and got to enjoy the beach as well.
I plan on jogging a bit on the beach later today or tomorrow and hopefully going in for a swim if the waves aren’t too rough out. One of my friends basically said I am a fool for not taking advantage of having the beach just a hop, skip and jump away. I agree and plan on getting out there at least every other week. Happy Spring!
What are your favorite activities this time of year?
When I work out I normally just pull on an old t-shirt and lounge shorts. There’s nothing too fancy about the outfit; my mindset is that I’m about to get active and super sweaty so why try to put so much effort into it? But this past Friday I found myself wandering into the Active section of Old Navy and see if I can find something cuter than a gray shirt with set-in oil stains. It’s possible that I was moved by their 40% off sale but I digress. [Read more…]
I rarely eat pasta, but I do enjoy whole wheat fettuccine and linguine from time to time. The problem that I have with most pasta is that my stomach feels heavier when I have it. Maybe it’s because pasta is filled with tons of carbs is why I always feel stuffed when I have it. Enter this little wonder product-shirataki noodles! [Read more…]
I swear I am always online looking at cool things that I want to buy but they usually just end up on a wish list. If I really, really want them I will buy it though. Since it is spring time I have been thinking about what I want to add into my arsenal in regards to healthier eating and getting fit. For fun I decided it would be exciting to make a spring wish list.
