If you follow me on Instagram, Twitter or SnapChat you may know that I took this week off from work. Since it was Spring Break from school and I really wanted to enjoy it and relax, taking some vacation time off from work was just too tempting.
I would have loved to do an island hop but instead I opted to do a little staycation and enjoy the island I live on. Between resting and lounging around I also wanted to get some physical movement in and not get too comfortable to I decided it would be fun to do some Yoga and go walking. Since I enjoy the beach and haven’t really had a chance to go there in awhile I thought it was the perfect idea to go ahead and take a walk there.
[side note: Did you know you can burn 100+ calories per mile just from walking?]
I could have drove to the beach but I really wanted to get in as many steps as I could – which reminds me that I still haven’t gotten a new battery for my FitBit Zip. So I walked on over there (and back) – it took me about 7 minutes each way and I walked along the shore through the rough waves. I also did a lot of stretching and meditating. Just enjoying the beauty of the ocean and the delicious salty air. I ended up getting in a nice little leg exercise and got to enjoy the beach as well.
I plan on jogging a bit on the beach later today or tomorrow and hopefully going in for a swim if the waves aren’t too rough out. One of my friends basically said I am a fool for not taking advantage of having the beach just a hop, skip and jump away. I agree and plan on getting out there at least every other week.
