I always find it funny when people just assume big folks don’t like salad. I know plenty of skinny folks that don’t like salads – not just big ones. Recently on Snapchat a guy even made some snaps about it while he ate what he called his “leafy greens.” I really think that there is a salad for nearly everyone – they just have to find the recipe or ingredients that work best for them and their preference.
I cannot personally speak for every big heffa, however, I can say that this big heffa right here – she loves a nice salad. I have always loved salads and used to always each just really basic ones but now that I’m older and have been learning about what others put on their salads I have been playing around with the ingredients a bit more.
Favorite salad combinations:
- My favorite restaurant salad: Gyu-Kaku’s Chop Salad: Chopped greens, avocado, corn, edamame, onions, tomatoes, tofu and zucchini tossed with their delicious house dressing.
- My go-to salad: Chopped greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, craisins and sunflower seeds with light ranch, cottage cheese or no topping/dressing. You can add chicken or turkey as well and shredded cheese as a topping if you like that. I also add a couple croutons occasionally.
- Second go-to salad: Cranberry, Avocado, Spinach and Chicken.
There are several other salad combinations that I enjoy but I thought I would just share a couple of them in hopes that it inspires others to try something different. I think people that say they don’t like salads just really need to find the combination(s) that they enjoy. Add something different the next time you make a salad and see how you like it. I would also suggest searching on Pinterest for different salad “recipes” – there are so many different ways to make a salad.
