I love water and my next favorite thing to drink would be a nice warm cup of coffee or green tea. Occasionally, however, I also enjoy some other type of beverage such as apple juice, orange juice or soda. i’m not a huge soda drinker, however, some meals I do like to have a small soda with.
In the past I didn’t really think about what was in the things that I drank – if I wanted something or had a serious craving for it – I would drink it. That usually wasn’t very often so it wasn’t very important to really think about it anyways.
Because of the beetus (Diabetes) though, I have made a conscious effort to seek out better alternatives. You don’t have to have Diabetes to choose something that is lower sugar/carb but if you want to keep extra pounds off and possibly help prevent getting Diabetes here are my favorite beverages that I choose instead.
Bai Cocofusions: low glycemic, sweetened with stevia and erythritol, caffeinated. Make sure you check the labels as they have ones that have lower carbs/sugar count and ones that do not.
Sparkling Ice Naturally Flavored Sparkling Water: I like that they offer so many different flavors to choose from. Just like Bai they also offer flavors that are not low/no carb. Always check the labels!
Glaceau Vitamin Water Zero: My favorite flavor is their XXX. I had been drinking the regular version until I discovered the Zero version which has 4g of carbohydrates and <1g sugars. I especially like this drink because it has Vitamin A, C, B5, B6, B12, Maganese, Antioxadants and Electrolytes. I drink it because the taste but also because it really helps when I'm feeling dehydrated, exhausted or having stomach issues. I recently discovered that they make the zero version in their Squeezed (lemonade) flavor as well – I bought a huge case at Costco with Zero/Orange/Lemonade flavors – that is how much I love this stuff.
Now going back to water. I love water and over the past couple of years I realized the more I drink, the more my body craves it and I just feel so much better if I am constantly staying hydrated. As far as my favorite water, lately I have been finding myself drinking a lot of Glaceau SmartWater. I love that I feel refreshed after drinking it and I love that it has electrolytes in it.
What are your favorite beverages and what alternatives have you found for them?
